Aircraft assembly training gets a lift from C&G - November 2010

The delicate task of fitting the new A400M Airbus military transport aircraft with its giant wings has been made a little easier and safer, thanks to the expertise of C&G Services Training specialists.

Stuart has just returned from 10 days at the airbus assembly plant in Seville, Spain where he has been training operatives in the safe use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms which are used in securing the 19 metre long wings to the fuselage. The wings are manufactured by Airbus UK at Filton, Bristol, where C&G Services have already trained workers in the techniques needed to transport the multi-million pound components from the factory to the hold of Belugs utility aircraft for transport to Seville.

The A400M is a state of the art military transport plane, about to replace the hercules as Europe's premier military transport aircraft. It is now undergoing flight testing at the Seville base of EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) prior to the delivery of 174 of the aircraft to eight countries.
