Safetember is a national campaign, launched by the Fork Lift Truck Association, to encourage safer practices in work environments, with the aim of reducing the numbers of workplace accidents. While Safetember began as an initiative aimed exclusively at fork lift truck operators, it has since expanded to cover all aspects of workplace safety.

“C&G have been providing training and consultancy to businesses in Gloucestershire and countrywide for over 40 years,” explained C&G Director Kevin Parsons. “It’s our aim to promote the message behind Safetember, with a focus on Gloucestershire and making sure workers in our county are safe.”

C&G’s campaign will target a different element of workplace safety every week throughout the month of September, covering Risk Management, Health & Safety, Workplace Illness & Injury and Forklift Truck Operation.

“We train across all industries, with particular specialisms in the aerospace, rail, nuclear and industrial sectors. It’s these kinds of industries where ensuring people work safely is really important to prevent injury or damage to property. In 2014/15 there were 611,000 workplace injuries, including 142 fatalities. This resulted in 4.1million working days lost, which has a huge impact on the economy and hits small businesses particularly hard. We want to reduce these numbers by helping people understand what’s at stake and by giving employers the information they need to prevent accidents and keep their staff safe.”

C&G have published a free white paper on their first topic, Risk Management, detailing the importance of having robust risk assessment and management, which you can download here. For more information on Safetember, call C&G on 01453 826781.
