Who

Enhance your skills with our dedicated refresher course. This course is for those who are already operating in industry and need to complete refresher training as set out in the Chainsaws at Work INDG317 document. This course is suitable for people who work in: Arboriculture Forestry Agriculture Horticulture Woodland Local Authorities Conservation Construction Land-based. Note: Due to the nature of the training a minimum level of fitness is required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage any learner, it is an essential requirement of the course.

Aims

Felling and processing trees can be dangerous tasks. That's why it's vital to make sure you have the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to do it safely. Our refresher course will keep you up to speed with the latest techniques and safety information. It's not for novices as it doesn't offer the wide range of skills needed for inexperienced operators to work safely.

Objectives

By the end of the course, you'll have worked through: • Safety, health and welfare • Biosecurity • Felling. You'll receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the course.

Outline

Our course offers a balanced mix of theory and practical sessions.
The first module covers safety, health, and welfare and is mandatory. It must be completed before the other modules.

We will, however, accept equivalent health and safety certification if it has been completed within five years of this refresher course.

Examples of equivalent certification include:

  • IOSH (Managing Safely)
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Lantra Awards Health & Safety and Practical Risk Assessment
  • Construction Skills Health and Safety equivalent to 5 days training
  • BSC level 3 Occupational Safety or above
  • Level 3 Award in Controlling Risks to Health & Safety in Agriculture and Production Horticulture (QCF).

Worth noting: You will need a minimum level of fitness to complete this course.
